"Kafka" is a TV movie that follows the life of the famous writer Franz Kafka. Despite his outwardly mundane existence, Kafka is plagued by dark and disturbing thoughts, which he channels into his writing.

One day, Kafka meets a young woman named Dora Diamant (played by Liv Lisa Fries), who becomes his muse and lover. Dora encourages Kafka to pursue his true passion for writing, and he begins to gain recognition for his work.

However, Kafka's mental state begins to deteriorate as he becomes more and more consumed by his inner demons. He struggles to balance his personal life with his writing career, leading to a downward spiral of paranoia and madness.

As Kafka's mental health continues to decline, he becomes increasingly isolated from those around him, including Dora and his close friend Max Brod (played by Robert Stadlober). Despite his struggles, Kafka finds solace in his writing, which allows him to express his innermost thoughts and fears.

Marie-Lou Sellem plays a psychiatrist who tries to help Kafka confront his inner demons and come to terms with his own mortality. Michael Maertens also appears in the film as Kafka's boss at the insurance company, who is both a source of support and frustration for the tormented writer.
