In "Time Out of Mind," George, played by Richard Gere, is a man who has been living on the streets of New York City for an unspecified amount of time. He is estranged from his daughter, Maggie, played by Jena Malone, and is determined to reconnect with her despite his circumstances.
As George struggles to survive on the streets, he encounters a variety of other homeless individuals, including a man named Dixon, played by Ben Vereen, who becomes a friend and ally to George. George also comes into contact with social workers and shelter workers who try to help him, but he is resistant to their assistance.
Throughout the film, George tries to find a sense of stability and purpose in his life, all while grappling with his own inner demons and the harsh realities of living on the streets.
