In Head Count, Kat (played by Emma Stone) has just escaped from prison after serving five years for a crime she didn't commit. As she wanders the streets, desperate to avoid being caught by the police, she is suddenly ambushed by an unknown assailant who holds a gun to her head. The two engage in a tense standoff as the revolver's empty rounds click away, each of them trying to outsmart the other.
As the tension builds, Kat begins to flashback to the events leading up to her imprisonment. Through a series of fragmented memories and flashbacks, we see how Kat was set up by a group of corrupt cops who wanted to cover up their involvement in a high-profile murder case. In order to prove her innocence, Kat must piece together the clues and track down the real killers before it's too late.
As the unknown assailant continues to hold Kat at gunpoint, she begins to realize that this person may be connected to the murder case in some way. Could the killer be right in front of her, taunting her with every empty click of the revolver? With time running out and her life on the line, Kat must use all of her wits and cunning to outsmart her enemy and clear her name once and for all.
