As Harry Bates delves into the case, he discovers that Allie's brother, Jake, has been missing for several weeks and was last seen near the swamplands outside of town. The townspeople are convinced that the legendary Crocodylus, a half-crocodile half-human creature, is responsible for his disappearance.
Harry is initially skeptical of the monster myth, but as he uncovers more clues and encounters strange occurrences in the swamp, he begins to believe that there may be some truth to the legend. Along the way, he is joined by his eccentric sidekick, a former circus performer named Slink, who provides comic relief and questionable expertise in monster hunting.
As Harry and Slink navigate the treacherous swamplands and encounter bizarre characters, including a paranoid park ranger and a band of amateur cryptozoologists, they find themselves in a race against time to rescue Jake from the clutches of the Crocodylus before it's too late.
