Fantasy,Horror,Drama  Germany,Austria

Hagazussa is a 2017 German-Austrian horror film written and directed by Lukas Feigelfeld. The movie is set in the 15th century in the Austrian Alps where Albrun (Aleksandra Cwen), a young woman, lives alone with her mother in a remote cabin. Albrun's mother is sick and dies suddenly, leaving Albrun alone with her own thoughts in the eerie isolation of the forest.

As the story progresses, Albrun becomes increasingly isolated and obsessed with her own memories and the inexplicable forces that exist in the forest. She begins to experience strange visions and hallucinations, which blur the lines between reality and fantasy. The villagers' superstitious beliefs in witches and nature spirits also add to Albrun's paranoia and anxiety.

As Albrun's mental state deteriorates, she finds solace in her own ritualistic practices and even begins to dabble in black magic. Eventually, Albrun's madness spirals out of control, leading to a terrifying climax that will leave the viewer shocked and stunned.

Hagazussa is a stunningly beautiful and haunting film that explores themes of mental illness, isolation, and the supernatural. The movie is shot in a dazzlingly spellbinding style that immerses the viewer in an otherworldly and ethereal experience. Coherence and continuity are dispensed with in favor of a hypnotic and dreamlike narrative that rewards patient viewers with a deeply affecting and powerful climax.
